Brynhildr was one of the most powerful Valkyrie, who hunted down and collected evil spirits for the Chief God, but sacrificed herself to seal an S-Rank Evil spirit, turning into a demonic sword sealed in the Japanese Branch of the Hero Clan being wielded by Basara Toujou.
Appearance[]
Brynhildr's prior appearance as a Valkyrie is unknown, but she soon took form as a large silver single-edged demonic sword.
Personality[]
Not much is known about Brynhildr's personality, but she was once known as a rather dutiful Valkyrie who served the Chief God without question, even sealing away a dangerous Evil Spirit at the cost of her body and soul.
After becoming a demon sword, Brynhildr has shown to prioritize her life as she chose Basara as her host to keep from being erased by Banishing Shift, and again after Ornis tried killing Basara.
History[]
Once considered the strongest among the Valkyrie, Brynhildr served the Cheif God without question, hunting down and collecting multiple Evil Spirits. She soon sacrificed her body and soul to seal away a powerful S-Ranked Evil Spirit, then sealed herself within a demonic sword, which shares her name.
At some point, Brynhildr was sealed in a shrine located in the Japanese Hero Clan Branch, rejecting multiple owners, even Jin Toujou, despite him being considered the Strongest Hero.
Some time after the Great War ended, Seito tried picking up Brynhildr in an attempt to enact vengeance against the demons, but he soon went on a rampage after the evil spirit within her possessing him. It resulted in him killing all the children and adults protecting them, causing Basara to lose control of Banishing Shift in an attempt to rescue Yuki, and became Brynhildr's new owner to preserve her life.
Powers and Abilities[]
Valkyrie Powers[]
As one of the most powerful Valkyrie, Brynhildr was considered one of the God's strongest soldiers, hunting down and collecting the souls of numerous evil spirits. As a testament to her strength, she was turned into one of the strongest demonic swords, surpassing ones such as Loki.
- Soul Sealing: She has the ability to seal the souls of the people she has defeated, remaining even after being turned into a demonic sword, even sealing the souls of beings as strong as Ornis and Belphegor. It is later noted that Brynhildr could even use the same abilities as the beings whose soul she sealed.
Equipment[]
Brynhildr: Her current vessal, which is one of the strongest demonic swords, sharing her name. Brynhildr is Basara's main weapon and a conduit for using Banishing Shift. However, because of his initial fear of his innate power and the sword itself, he was never capable of using it to the fullest. It often leads Brynhildr to possessing him whenever his life is in danger, even healing his severed arm. Because of Chisato, Basara soon started gaining more synchronization with Brynhildr, and can even use the abilities of the souls sealed within it.
- Armor: Basara is able to further synchronize with Brynhildr using his unique demonic heritage, letting him don a full-armored suit like the one that Leohart donned.
- Power Manipulation: Using Belphegor's soul, Basara can control and enhance other abilities, which allows him to control the Gravity Magic he inherited from his biological mother, creating Banyuusekiryoku.
Trivia[]
- Brynhildr was called a "magic sword" in volume 01.
- In the manga, the evil spirit sealed in Brnyhildr wasn't erased, but sealed due to the Banishing Shift instead of being erased along with Seito.
- Brynhildr's name means "Armor Battle" or "Bright Battle".
- Brynhildr even rejected Jin at some point in the past, but she accepted Basara since she would have also been eliminated due to his Banishing Shift if she hadn't done so.
- Brynhildr and Balmung have similar designs, likely due to them coming from the same Germanic and Nordic sources. As well as being wielded by son and father respectively.
